Jacosa Kato, an assistant to magician Jonathan Pendragon, died Wednesday night after falling from the roof of her Los Angeles apartment building.

The fatal accident occurred Wednesday after Ms. Kato performed at the Magic Castle in L.A., when she was attempting to climb onto the roof of her apartment building, according to People magazine.

The Daily Mirror reported Friday that the 34-year-old entertainer was going up on the roof to stargaze with her boyfriend.

The cause of death has not yet been determined, but an autopsy has been scheduled, People reported. The coroner’s office didn’t immediately respond to the magazine’s request for comment.

Mr. Pendragon has canceled his shows through the weekend, Joe Furlow of the Magic Castle told People.

“We’re all kind of reeling, today will be a very strange day for all of us. … We’re heartbroken,” Mr. Furlow said.
