ARLINGTON, TEXAS | The matchup between Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman and Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant Thursday finished with acrimonious words.
Bryant made five catches for 72 yards while often matched up with Norman. Their on-field exchanges went from basic talking to yelling at each other nose-to-nose, causing referees to come in and separate the pair.
After the game, Norman claimed he was trying to congratulate Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott when Bryant bumped him.
“This guy [Bryant] bumped into to me, like what’s up? Where I’m from, we unload the clip, so, pretty much, whatever you want to do” Norman said Bryant said to him. “I’m not a guy that sees a challenge in front of my face to back down. That’s not me. That’s not what you’re going to get. I’m sorry if I offended anybody. Actually, I’m not sorry if I offended anybody. I’m going to be me, aggressive to the end, that’s who I am.”
Bryant later tweeted a video of him making a catch and said he “exposed” Norman. He also tweeted, “I’m not disrespectful to players in league. I love this game but Norman takes it past football. if you going spit fire be able to take it,” plus added that Norman was lying about the “unload the clip” comment, tweeting at Norman, “don’t lie on me.. but I will whoop yo ass boy straight up.”
Before he took to social media, Bryant had more words in the postgame locker room.
“I didn’t make it personal, he made it personal,” Bryant said. “I was just going to come out here and do my job and that’s exactly what I did. He wanted to bump and I let him bump a little bit. He got me bumping a little bit. He just made me attack him even more. I honestly fell like the guy’s extremely soft. I think he’s just a bunch of talk. If he was out and about I wouldn’t dare let him talk to me like that. Those words would never come out of his mouth, I promise you. On another note, we got after that [expletive]. Hell of a win. It feels good.”
