CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming hunters and anglers are bucking a national decline in participation.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2g7d5qR) the population of hunters and anglers has stumbled nationwide, but not in Wyoming.

The number of residents with hunting licenses moved from 76,612 in 2010 to 78,859 last year.

Wyoming’s Game and Fish department has been working on outreach through educational programs and events.

Department official Renny MacKay said the department has found over the years that people who hunt, fish and otherwise experience the outdoors are more likely to support investments in wildlife.
