CARABASSETT VALLEY, Maine (AP) - Police are blaming black ice for a fatal two-car crash in western Maine.

Police say 34-year-old Levi Pooler died early Monday at a Portland hospital from injuries suffered in the crash at about 6:40 p.m. Sunday.

Carrabassett Valley Police Chief Mark Lopez tells the Morning Sentinel (https://bit.ly/2gBwygG) that Pooler was driving a car that slid on black ice into another vehicle. Two occupants of the other vehicle were treated for broken bones.

Lopez said there had been snow in the Bigelow Hill area that melted and then froze over again, creating the slick conditions.
