MCCOLL, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a man from Brooklyn, New York, has shot and killed the 72-year-old man he had been staying with in South Carolina.

McColl Police Chief Tommy Langley told media outlets that 42-year-old Bryant Bonds got into an argument with the man around 9 a.m. Sunday. Marlboro County Coroner Tim Brown says John Bryant was shot in the head.

Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the fight that led to Bryant’s death.

Bonds is charged with murder. It wasn’t known if he had a lawyer.
