NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) - Police say a man found severely beaten in the hallway of a New London apartment building early Thanksgiving morning has died and the suspect faces more serious charges.

Police responded to the Williams Park Apartments at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday where they found 38-year-old Marion Beasley unconscious with facial and head injuries in a fourth-floor hallway.

Capt. Brian Wright says Beasley died at Yale New Haven Hospital on Monday.

Police on Monday arrested 44-year-old Edgar Sanchez-Valencia and charged him with second-degree assault. He is being held on $200,000 bond and is expected to be arraigned Tuesday. It is unclear if he has hired a lawyer.

Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive.
