PRICE, Utah (AP) - A 25-year-old Carbon County man has been arrested in the fatal shootings of his mother and brother on a remote ranch about 140 miles southeast of Salt Lake City.

Carbon County Sheriff Jeff Wood told The Salt Lake Tribune (https://tinyurl.com/zr3gj26 ) Thursday that Seth Peterson of Ferron was booked on suspicion of killing 45-year-old Susan Peterson and 23-year-old James Peterson.

He faces two counts of first-degree felony aggravated murder, first-degree felony attempted murder, automobile theft, fleeing police and failure to stop at the command of a police officer.

Wood says Peterson was unarmed when he was taken into custody Wednesday evening after a brief high-speed chase and foot pursuit. But he says deputies recovered several high-powered hunting rifles at the scene of the crime in a field about 7 miles west of Price near the old mining town of Hiawatha.
