The Mountaineers must regroup after their first loss at Oklahoma State and get motivated to take on the Jayhawks. Kansas has lost 17 straight Big 12 games and 39 consecutive road contests.


Kansas DE Dorance Armstrong vs. West Virginia’s offensive line. The sophomore has at least one sack in six straight games, a streak he shares with Alabama’s Tim Williams for the longest in the nation. He leads the Big 12 with 12 tackles for loss. West Virginia’s veteran line allowed four sacks against Oklahoma State.


Kansas: WR Steven Sims. The sophomore is averaging five catches per game and has scored five touchdowns. He has three 100-yard receiving games this season.

West Virginia: QB Skyler Howard. Howard has been efficient most of the season but lost a fumble and threw two interceptions that led to 17 points for Oklahoma State. A year ago against Kansas he threw for 133 yards and a TD and ran for 129 yards and another score in a 49-0 win.


West Virginia is 3-1 against Kansas since joining the Big 12 in 2012. … Kansas is last in the nation in turnovers and next-to-last in turnover margin. … West Virginia RB Rushel Shell is listed as day-to-day after tweaking an ankle last week but could get some rest against Kansas as the Mountaineers prepare for their crucial stretch run. … Last year at Kansas, West Virginia had three 100-yard rushers for the first time since 1969. …. West Virginia’s defense is allowing 21 points per game, compared to 29 points through seven games a year ago.
