AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Authorities in Maine say they’re withholding information in the case of a 17-year-old boy charged with killing his parents because it hasn’t been determined whether the teen will be charged as an adult or as a juvenile.
The Kennebec Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2fiXsgk ) the state medical examiner’s office is releasing no information on the manner and cause of death of Antonio and Alice Balcer. Their son, Andrew Balcer, has been charged in their deaths.
Timothy Feeley, of the state attorney general’s office, says prosecutors have requested a hearing that would allow Balcer to be tried as an adult. He turns 18 next month.
Feeley says premature release of the information can affect the investigation.
Balcer is charged with two counts of murder. Police say his parents’ bodies were found Monday in Winthrop.
