PHOENIX (AP) - A state judicial conduct prosecutor is asking that a Maricopa County Justice of the Peace be disciplined for allegedly violating judicial ethics rules and standards.
The Commission on Judicial Conduct’s disciplinary counsel alleges that violations by Desert Ridge Justice of the Peace Clancy Jayne included improperly using non-public court information and engaging in improper fundraising for events.
Jayne contests much of the complaint and says it should be dismissed.
The complaint asks that Jayne be censured, suspended or removed from office.
The commission will hold a hearing on the charges. Suspensions without pay and removal from office are subject to review and approval by the state Supreme Court.
Jayne lost in the August primary election and his term of office expires at the end of the year.
