NEW YORK (AP) - Police say they’ve made an arrest in the fatal shooting of an innocent bystander in New York City, who relatives say had been walking to pick her niece up from school.

WNBC-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2fiQl7h ) police say a 17-year-old boy has been taken into custody in the Wednesday afternoon shooting death of 45-year-old Maribel Cavero-Reyes.

Police say charges are pending.



Officers found Cavero-Reyes with a gunshot wound to her chest on Wednesday afternoon in the Melrose section of the Bronx. She was declared dead at a hospital.

Police have said she was hit by gunfire from two groups of men who were arguing in the middle of the street.
