PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Fire officials say two young children were critically hurt when a row house in Philadelphia caught fire.

The fire broke out in the city’s Olney section Thursday night. Officials say heavy smoke could be seen coming from the second floor.

WCAU-TV reports city Fire Commissioner Adam Thiel says the children were hospitalized in extremely critical condition. He says they are improving.

Their identities haven’t been released.

Officials say it took firefighters about 10 minutes to knock down the flames.

No other injuries were reported. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

This story has been corrected to show the fire commissioner’s last name is Thiel, not Theil.
