TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Motorists in New Jersey are feeling pain at the pumps.
A 23-cents-per-gallon increase in the state’s gas tax took effect Tuesday. And that created the largest week over week price jump since 2008.
AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular gas in the state on Friday was $2.29, up 25 cents from last week. Motorists were paying $1.99 a gallon a year ago.
The national average gas price on Friday was $2.22, the same as last week. That’s also slightly more than the national average from a year ago, when motorists were paying $2.20.
