LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - The lawyer for a woman charged in the deaths of a Louisville police officer and another pedestrian has entered a not guilty plea on her behalf.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports (https://bit.ly/2ebho4S ) that attorney Jerry Wright waived formal arraignment during a Friday court hearing for Suzanne Whitlow. She is charged with manslaughter and driving under the influence in the deaths of Louisville police Det. Jason Schweitzer and University of Kentucky employee Timothy Moore.
Police say Moore was pointing Schweitzer toward a restaurant when Whitlow lost control of her vehicle and hit them on Oct. 29 in Lexington.
Whitlow was not at the hearing. Wright says she’s “is back in treatment,” but declined to say whether that was for alcohol- or substance-abuse treatment or treatment for injuries suffered in the collision.
