WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) - A Magna man is now facing a murder charge after a woman he is accused of choking died.
Prosecutors filed one count of first-degree murder and one count of obstructing justice against 29-year-old Jeffrey Allan Larson on Friday, just hours after 24-year-old Nisha Fnu was taken off life support.
He is being held on $1 million bail.
West Valley City police say they received a 911 call Oct. 16 about a woman in a vehicle who needed help.
Officers found Fnu unconscious and she was rushed to a hospital.
Doctors said her injuries were consistent with strangulation.
Investigators traced the 911 call to Larson, who admitted that he met Fnu the night before.
Larson says they fought in his car and she appeared to have a seizure.
