BLANCHARD, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say a southwest Iowa man has died after a fall while fishing in Page County.

The Page County Sheriff’s Office says the 69-year-old man fell a little before 3 p.m. Saturday. The office says he slipped on the edge of a creek bank just west of Blanchard and suffered several injuries before plunging into the water. A witness had to go to Blanchard to call for help.

The Sheriff’s Office says the man was pronounced dead at Shenandoah Medical Center. He was identified as Joseph Hines, who lived in Blanchard.
