CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) - Police say a man broke into a home in southern Utah and stabbed a sleeping woman using a knife from her kitchen.

According to court documents filed Monday, the 19-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder for the Sunday stabbing in Cedar City. Police say the woman has multiple stab wounds on her neck, chest and upper body, but the injuries aren’t life-threatening.

Documents say the man admitted to breaking into the home by climbing through the kitchen window and said he took off his clothes because he thought his clothing was making too much noise.

Police say the woman’s husband woke up when she started screaming and tackled the man, holding him down until police arrived.
