ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - A University of Georgia student is suing after a body-camera video showed that a senior police officer repeatedly struck him with a baton, failed to get him medical attention and then filed a false report about it. Michael Roquet’s lawyers are accusing Clarke County of failing to re-train, discipline or fire officer Jonathan Fraser after previous incidents.
The Athens Banner-Herald (https://bit.ly/2eyNLWo ) reports that Fraser’s camera showed the officer repeatedly striking the intoxicated Roquet with a baton. Fraser was fired and charged with assault last year after investigators found the student was never aggressive toward the officer. He has yet to be indicted.
