PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - Yavapai County authorities say a Cleator man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman who is his neighbor.

County sheriff’s officials say 56-year-old Donald Purcell is being held on $80,000 bond on suspicion of attempted murder and aggravated assault.

They say the victim remains hospitalized in intensive care with blunt-force trauma injuries to her head.

Sheriff’s officials say deputies were dispatched to a home in Cleator last Friday night and found a 60-year-old woman lying on the ground with severe head injuries and covered in blood.

Purcell allegedly had been in an argument with the woman earlier in the day over some of his property blocking access to the front of her home.

They say blood evidence and clothing left at the scene linked Purcell to the incident.
