MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley has set the dates of a special election to fill the District 67 seat in the House of Representatives.

Rep. Darrio Melton, a Democrat from Selma, is vacating the seat after being elected mayor of Selma.

Al.com (https://bit.ly/2fluBFe ) reports a special primary election is set for Jan. 31. If a primary runoff is necessary, it will be held April 18.

If there is a primary runoff, the special general election will be June 27.

If no primary is necessary because the major parties do not have more than one candidate, or if no primary runoff is necessary, the special general election will be on April 18.
