TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - The murder case of a teenage boy accused of shooting a 16-year-old girl who was riding in a stolen minivan has been moved to adult court.

Mercer County prosecutors say 18-year-old Peter Charles Jr., of Trenton, also faces six counts of aggravated assault and weapons offenses stemming from the April 24 shooting of Ciony Kirkman. Charles was 17 at the time.

Prosecutors say Kirkman and several other juveniles were in the minivan when she was shot in the head. She was taken to a hospital but died there a few days later.

A possible motive for the shooting has not been disclosed.

Charles remains jailed on $500,000 bail. It wasn’t known Wednesday if he has retained an attorney.
