GOLDEN MEADOW, La. (AP) - The Lafourche Parish sheriff says a 20-year-old Golden Meadow man is accused of killing two older men, one with a statue and the other with an ax.

The Daily Comet (https://bit.ly/2eLn9ol ) reports that 20-year-old Dayton Duet (doo-AY) was arrested Tuesday on charges of capital murder in the death of 78-year-old Stanley Gisclair (zhis-KLARE) and second-degree murder in the death of 64-year-old Wayne Matherne (muh-THERN).

Sheriff Craig Webre says in a news release that Duet confessed to both killings.

He says 25-year-old Cameron Sands had told detectives he hit Matherne with a cane and the statue Friday, after Matherne said he was going to get a gun.

Webre says Duet told investigators he was there, and hit Gisclair with the statue.

He says a relative found Gisclair’s body Monday.

Sheriff’s spokesman Brandon Matherne says he doesn’t know whether either has an attorney.
