ALGODONES, N.M. (AP) - Authorities say an Algodones man has been arrested for DWI for the eighth time.
New Mexico State Police say 75-year-old Jimmy Baldonado has been booked into the Sandoval County Detention Center on suspicion of DWI, possessing an open container of alcohol in a vehicle and a registration violation.
They say a uniformed police officer conducted a traffic stop for a registration violation last Thursday in Algodones and Baldonado handed the officer an expired, void driver’s license.
The officer says Baldonado had slurred speech and alcohol on his breath.
Baldonado admitted to drinking alcoholic beverages before and the officer saw an open container of beer in the vehicle.
Police say Baldonado was placed under arrest for DWI.
He later submitted to a breath test and had a breath-alcohol level of .12.
