BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a 64-year-old Birmingham man was fatally shot in the driveway of his home during an apparent robbery.

Birmingham police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards said in a statement that Calvin Gunn was shot Saturday night in the Ensley neighborhood. Gunn was rushed to a hospital but later pronounced dead.

Investigators say Gunn and his wife were returning home when they were approached by an unknown assailant. The suspect tried to rob Gunn and then fled on foot with two other males.
