DENVER (AP) - Police have arrested a Denver man accused of fatally shooting a teenager and wounding another as they apparently were trying to steal marijuana plants from his backyard.

The Denver Post reports (https://goo.gl/MTQ1bI ) 48-year-old Keith Hammock was arrested for investigation of murder in Sunday morning’s death of 15-year-old Keylin Mosley. Investigators say Hammock also shot a 14-year-old boy.

According to an arrest affidavit, the boys climbed over a fence to get into the backyard, where several marijuana plants were growing. Police received a call from the surviving boy who told a dispatcher he had been shot and that his friend was dead.

Hammock also is being held on charges of attempted murder and investigation of felony marijuana cultivation.

Booking documents do not indicate if he has hired an attorney.
