SPARKS, Nev. (AP) - Officials say one person has died after a two-story house in Sparks caught fire.

Firefighters had responded to the residence Monday morning to find the home’s attic entirely engulfed in flames.

The Sparks Fire Department reported that an elderly couple lived in the home and confirmed that one person had been found dead in a bedroom. The victim has not yet been identified.

Authorities had closed down a nearby road while crews worked to battle the flames.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
