TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - A former teacher has donated $1 million to the University of Toledo to support teacher education.

Janet Keller, who received a bachelor’s of education in 1960 and an education master’s in 1964, says she made the donation out of love for the school.

The Blade reported Monday (https://bit.ly/2e8Xtnu ) that Keller, a former Spanish teacher, and her husband, the Rev. Gerald Keller, were inspired by the 100th anniversary of the school’s education college to make the donation.

Janet Keller said in a statement that she had a wonderful career as a teacher and wanted to help others have the same opportunity.

The couple had previously donated to a scholarship fund in honor of Janet Keller’s parents.
