ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) - Authorities in Belton say a 47-year-old man has been found dead of a gunshot wound and a woman suffered several gunshot wounds, but there is no threat to the public.

Police Chief Tommy Clamp told local media the dead man was Jean Cesar.

Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown says the women is 39-year-old Takeshia Jamison. He says she was shot three or four times early Monday.

McCown says Cesar died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound from a handgun.

Clamp says the incident is thought to be an attempted murder-suicide, and there is no threat to the public. The chief says Jamison was taken to a local hospital and her family told him she is in stable condition.
