GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) - Campbell County officials have identified a semitrailer driver who died after suffering a fatal heart attack and crashing into propane tanks off Highway 51 last weekend.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol on Tuesday identified the victim as 63-year-old Steven Jewett, of Moorcroft.

The Gillette News Record reports (https://bit.ly/2dXJQ6C ) that Coroner Laura Sundstrom says the man died before the Saturday crash when the tanks caught fire.

Authorities say the driver may have suffered a medical incident before he struck the propane tanks.

Evidence suggests he went off the wrong side of the road, up against a guardrail and crashed into the tanks without steering or hitting the brakes.

There are no signs of mechanical failure on the vehicle.

Damage from the crash and fire is estimated at $500,000.
