PARMA, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a western New York man is hospitalized after he was hit by gunfire from two men target shooting on a neighboring property.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says the man was reportedly shot Tuesday afternoon while working on his property in the town of Parma, just northwest of Rochester.

When deputies arrived they could hear gunshots in the distance. They found the source of the gunfire on nearby land where two men were shooting at paper targets without using a backdrop to stop the bullets.

Deputies found 42-year-old Kevin Flannery nearby with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He’s listed in critical condition at a Rochester hospital.

The two men, ages 24 and 25, were charged with assault and reckless endangerment.
