LA PLATA, Md. (AP) - The Charles County Sheriff’s Office says four young people have been charged with the fatal shooting of a man near an outdoor party in La Plata.
The department said in a news release that on Sept. 25, two groups of people got into an argument after being asked to leave a party on Mona Farm Place. Deputies say punches were thrown and some people were pepper-sprayed.
Detectives say as some people tried to flee in a car, someone fired several shots into the car. Police say 18-year-old Mason Cameron Atkins of Deale was struck and pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies on Wednesday arrested Tyreq Tilghman and Kevin Averell Jones, both 18, and two17-year-old girls. All four are charged with first-degree murder and are being held without bail.
