BEND, Ore. (AP) - A deputy running for Deschutes County Sheriff claims three internal investigations filed against him are a response to his candidacy.

The Bulletin reports (https://is.gd/DCEBXO ) that Deputy Eric Kozowski says three internal investigations filed against him in late September are retaliatory and deviate from standard sheriff’s office procedure.

Deschutes County Sheriff Shane Nelson says the investigations have followed policy and have nothing to do with the election.

According to court documents, one investigation stems from a citizen complaint claiming Kozowski failed to take a report on an unspecified incident in 2010, another is about Kozowski not arresting a wanted suspect in June, and another is over a statement made to the media in May.

The Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office is conducting all three investigations.
