GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - A popular Detroit-based brewery is celebrating the opening of a new location in western Michigan.

Atwater Brewery says the new brewery will open to the public Thursday in the Rowe building in Grand Rapids. It joins Atwater breweries in Detroit and Grosse Pointe.

A portion of October’s sales will be donated to the Grand Rapids Student Advancement Foundation to support Grand Rapids Public Schools programs.

The Grand Rapids tap house will feature a rotation of 40 beers on tap.

Atwater says its 2015 production surpassed 40,000 barrels.
