NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Orleans Parish coroner says a woman, whose body was found in an Audubon Park lagoon Monday, drowned.

Dr. Jeffrey Rouse said in a brief statement Wednesday investigators believe the middle aged woman was possibly homeless by evidence found at the scene.

Rouse said an autopsy revealed no trauma and that the cause of death was drowning. He says toxicology and other medical testing is pending, as is fingerprint confirmation of the woman’s identity.
