PHOENIX (AP) - Police say human remains found at two different locations in Phoenix last month belong to the same 45-year-old man.

Police announced Wednesday that the cause of death for Jason W. Collins has yet to be determined by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office.

A severed human arm was found Sept. 21 in a commercial scrap yard in south Phoenix.

Witnesses say the arm still had a hand attached and was located in an open field within the scrap yard.

On Sept. 30, witnesses directed police to human remains found in an open commercial yard near the scrap yard.

Detectives say the remains were in a skeletal state and could be related to the severed arm.

Police say they are now trying to track Collins‘ activities prior to Sept. 21.
