BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Officials with the Vermont Democratic Party say racist images were slipped under the door of the group’s campaign field office in Bennington.
Officials told the Bennington Banner (https://bit.ly/2dbxMwE ) on Tuesday one image shows a version of Pepe the Frog - a cartoon character whose image has been used by white supremacists - as a caricature of a Jewish man, who is smiling and standing in front of the burning World Trade Center.
Another image shows a caricature of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump throwing a Mexican woman and her baby over what is labeled the “Great Wall of Trump.” The child is attached to an anchor that’s chained to the woman.
Officials say copies have been sent to federal authorities. They say a similar incident happened several weeks ago.
