SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (AP) - A child endangering charge against the mother of a 6-week-old boy who died has been dropped.

Nineteen-year-old Shania Delawder was charged after Liam Lee Spencer was found unresponsive in at a Clark County motel in western Ohio and pronounced dead at a hospital Oct. 6. She pleaded not guilty.

Clark County Prosecutor Andy Wilson says there wasn’t enough evidence to take her case to a grand jury, but charges could be refiled if more evidence emerges.

Wilson says there’s enough evidence to present a case against the baby’s father to a grand jury. Twenty-year-old Brian Lee Spencer Jr. also pleaded not guilty to child endangering. Court records don’t show an attorney for him.

Investigators say they found signs of abuse and neglect. Authorities are still awaiting official autopsy results.
