AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Police in Maine have accused a mother of child endangerment after her 3-year-old daughter’s reported disappearance prompted an Amber Alert last week.

Augusta police say they’ve issued a summons to 40-year-old Karen Lea on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child in the case involving Lenore “Lenny” Wilson.

Wilson was reported missing Oct. 4 after police responded to Lea’s home for a report of a medical emergency. Wilson was brought to the Augusta police station that evening. Authorities say the child was believed to have been with Fatima Gissentaner and her boyfriend “Dollar,” who are considered persons of interests in the case.

Police say Lenore is doing well and the state will determine who’ll care for her.

It wasn’t immediately known if Lea had an attorney; a message was left at a phone number Thursday.
