STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) - Stockton police are investigating a 2-year-old boy’s death last week that was ruled a homicide after an autopsy.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports Wednesday (https://bit.ly/2dL9cH3) the family of the child, who lived in Stockton, took him to a Pleasanton hospital, where he later died.

Stockton Police spokesman Joe Silva says Pleasanton police informed Stockton authorities of the death the next day.

He says preliminary results from an autopsy led officials to begin a homicide investigation.

Officials would not say what led them to that classification.
