BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) - Former Colombia international Diego Osorio has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle more than a kilogram of cocaine aboard a flight to Spain.

Osorio represented Colombia at the 1992 Olympic Games and in the 1991 and 1993 Copa Americas. He was a defender for several leading Colombian teams, mostly with Medellin’s Atletico Nacional.

Police alleged the drugs were hidden in his underwear as he was preparing to board a flight on Thursday to Madrid, where he lives. The 46-year-old reportedly told police he had agreed to smuggle the drugs to pay off a debt.

Osorio was arrested previously for smuggling cocaine in 2002.
