CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - The Latest on a special session of the Nevada Legislature to consider funding an NFL stadium and convention center expansion (all times local):

The Nevada Assembly is getting a late start on its deliberations over an NFL stadium after a wildfire closed a road between Reno and Carson City.

Lawmakers were supposed to reconvene at 9 a.m. on Friday to discuss a bill that would raise hotel taxes to put $750 million toward a stadium. But a fire that broke out around 2 a.m. in the Washoe Valley closed the main route between the two cities.

Reno Republican Assemblyman Randy Kirner says the Nevada Highway Patrol escorted lawmakers and legislative staff through the corridor, which was closed to general traffic.

He said all Reno lawmakers were able to make it through safely.

Legislative leaders hope to have a vote and wrap up their work today.

Nevada lawmakers were up until the wee hours of the morning after a surprise report about stadium-related road costs dropped late on Thursday.

But they’re likely to vote on Friday on a deal to put $750 million in hotel tax revenue toward an NFL stadium in Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal published a story late Thursday indicating Nevada would need nearly $900 million in road improvements for the stadium.

Lawmakers were blindsided by the report after discussing details about the stadium project all day. It was dated Oct. 4 but didn’t come to light until 10 days later.

The Nevada Department of Transportation director came in around midnight and explained that the projects were already planned, although the stadium could prompt officials to accelerate their construction timeline.
