ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - State police say a 47-year-old woman has died after being struck by a car on Interstate 787 in Albany.

Police say Billie J. Tunis of Ghent was hit by a 2007 Toyota shortly before 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the southbound lane of I-787 near exit 2. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers say it’s unclear why she was walking on the highway.

The 29-year-old driver wasn’t injured and no tickets were issued.
