CARO, Mich. (AP) - Some deputies in Michigan’s Tuscola County are ditching their razors to raise money for foster children.

WNEM-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2egIQJT ) that they are being allowed to grow beards as part of Operation Good Cheer.

Sgt. Nate Licht tells the television station that Operation Good Cheer buys Christmas presents for children.

About $540 has been raised by the 27 scruffy deputies in the program. It cost deputies $20 each to participate.

Licht says deputies also participated last year.

The sheriff’s office is in Caro, east of Saginaw.
