LAS VEGAS (AP) - The Latest on a shooting on a Las Vegas freeway (all times local):

3:23 p.m.

Police say a woman who was critically wounded in a shooting on a Las Vegas freeway has died.

Authorities say the victim, who was shot three times, died Saturday after being rushed into surgery.

Her husband was also shot and he is in stable condition.

Police say a driver opened fire on the couple’s car around 9:30 a.m. on I-15.

Lt. Patrick Charoen says an officer spotted a car fitting the suspect vehicle’s description outside a nearby drug store.

According to Charoen, the male suspect was taken into custody without incident and there no injuries in the store.

Investigators are still trying to determine a motive but the attack appears to be random.

The identities of the victims and the suspect have not been released.


12:20 p.m.

Police say a woman and a man were seriously injured in a shooting on a Las Vegas freeway.

Lt. Patrick Charoen says police received two emergency calls around 9:30 a.m. Saturday about a shooting on I-15.

Charoen says both victims were in the same vehicle when they were shot.

The woman suffered three gunshot wounds and is in critical condition. The man’s condition was not immediately known but he was also receiving medical treatment.

Charoen says an officer spotted a vehicle fitting the suspect’s description outside a nearby drug store.

Police were able to speak to him and he exited the store without incident.

Charoen says there does not appear to be any connection so far between the victims and the suspect.


11:55 a.m.

Police have taken a suspect in a shooting on a Las Vegas freeway into custody.

Authorities say the suspect ran into a drug store after the shooting Saturday morning on Interstate 15.

Officers surrounded that area and were able to arrest him.

Police have not reported any injuries so far.

The details of the freeway shooting were not immediately known.

Investigators have shut down I-15 between Spring Mountain and Charleston in order to search the area for evidence.

Traffic is expected to be delayed for several miles.

The intersection of Windmill and Las Vegas Boulevard, near where the suspect was captured, is also closed.
