EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a crash involving four vehicles has left one man dead and four other people injured.

The accident occurred early Sunday in the eastbound lanes of Route 3 in East Rutherford.

Authorities say the 24-year-old man killed in the crash was driving one of the vehicles and apparently was traveling alone. But his name has not been released.

Three other people suffered serious injuries in the crash, while another person was also hurt. All four were being treated at a hospital, but further details on their conditions were not disclosed.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Authorities closed a stretch of the highway near MetLife Stadium while they investigated the crash. That caused some travel delays in the area throughout the morning.
