MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Twins are tapping one of Minnesota’s best small-college rivalries for the first football game at Target Field.

St. Thomas and St. John’s will meet Sept. 23 in the renewal of a rivalry that dates to 1901.

Target Field was reconfigured for soccer in June, when the Minnesota United soccer team hosted Club Leon of Mexico in an international friendly.

The ballpark opened in 2010.
