MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Police say a 50-year-old Montgomery man has been charged with damaging and stealing city parking meters.

Captain Zedrick Dean tells WSFA TV (https://bit.ly/2dmd5OF) police arrested Lester Brown early Sunday morning and charged him with three counts of theft of property first degree.

Dean says city officials first noticed a handful of the city parking meters had been damaged or were missing on Wednesday.

On Friday, he says several other meters were found broken and that’s when the police department began an investigation.

Brown was taken to the Montgomery County Detention Facility with a $15,000 bond. The investigation into the thefts is still under investigation.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for Brown.
