MILFORD, Del. (AP) - A detention center staff member and a 16-year-old girl have both been charged with assault following a fight.
Milford Police Department spokesman Sgt. Robert Masten says the teenage girl was charged with second-degree assault on Sept. 18 after the altercation at the Stevenson House Detention Center in which two staff members suffered minor injuries.
While examining the incident, Masten says the Delaware Institutional Abuse Investigator determined that 26-year-old Debra W. Joyner, a staff member at the detention center, assaulted the 16-year-old resident after she was restrained.
Joyner has since been charged with official misconduct and third-degree assault. It is unclear whether she has an attorney.
