HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - Forrest County Board of Supervisors has voted to remove former chief deputy Charles Bolton as requisition clerk for the county jail and juvenile detention center.

Bolton was found guilty recently of tax evasion and filing false tax returns.

During Monday’s regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors appoint Clifford Rudder, who has assumed the title of jail administrator.



Bolton was terminated from the sheriff’s department effective Sept. 15, the day after he and his wife, Linda Bolton, each were found guilty of five counts of filing false tax returns. Charles Bolton also was found guilty on four counts of tax evasion.

Rudder is a longtime deputy and investigator with the sheriff’s department.
