LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) - A central Pennsylvania police officer accused of lying under oath in the prosecution of a 2014 public drunkenness case is again facing a felony perjury charge.
LNP newspapers (https://bit.ly/2eem6Ox ) reports that a Lancaster County district judge ruled Monday there was enough evidence for the case against Sgt. Raymond Corll to go to county court.
The judge dismissed the perjury charge in April, citing a lack of evidence, but state prosecutors refiled it last month. Corll faces trial in February on simple assault, false swearing and official oppression charges. He and his attorney declined comment Monday.
Corli alleged in March 2014 that he saw the defendant swaying on the sidewalk, but the attorney general’s office said video evidence didn’t support the .allegation. Charges were dropped and the defendant later filed suit.
